It was a quiet afternoon in the warm little house where baby monkey Bella lived with her gentle—but sometimes moody—mom.
Bella had been playing peacefully with her soft blanket, flipping it over her head and giggling quietly to herself. But nearby, her mom was having a rough day. Maybe it was the noisy birds outside, or maybe her tail got stepped on earlier — either way, her mood wasn’t great.
Suddenly, a toy banana fell off the table and hit the floor with a loud thud! Mom turned quickly, her eyes narrowed.
“Bella! Did you throw that?” she snapped, pointing with a firm finger.
Bella froze.
She hadn’t touched it. Her tiny heart began to race, and her ears lowered. She looked up at her mom, wide-eyed and trembling.
“I-I didn’t…” she whispered, but her voice was too small.
Mom walked over, still frowning, and Bella shrunk into her blanket like a scared little cloud.
Her hands fidgeted. Her tail curled tight. She didn’t understand why her mommy was angry — but it made her chest feel heavy.
Then Mom noticed the fear in Bella’s eyes. She paused, looked at the toy banana… and realized the wind from the open window had knocked it over.
Her face softened instantly.
“Oh no… Bella, I’m so sorry,” she said, kneeling down. “It wasn’t you, was it?”
Bella blinked, still nervous, but nodded slowly.
Mom pulled her close and wrapped her arms around her. “Mommy didn’t mean to scare you. You’re a good little girl.”
Bella buried her face into her mama’s chest and let out a soft sigh.
Everything was okay again — because even when moods change, love stays the same
