Little baby monkey Bebe was having a very bad moment.
She had been nursing peacefully when, all of a sudden, Mom pulled away—just like that! No warning, no explanation. One second she was happy and full of love, and the next… everything changed.
Bebe blinked in confusion. Then her lips puckered.
Then came the anger.
She let out a sharp little cry and slapped her tiny hands on her lap. Her little stomach growled as if to back her up—“I’m not done yet!”
But Mom stood nearby, gently cleaning up and giving her space, thinking it was time to stop. Bebe didn’t agree. Not even close.
So she did what she always does when the world feels unfair…
She curled up on the soft mat, pulled her thumb into her mouth, and started sucking hard.
It wasn’t the same as milk. Not even close. But it gave her comfort. Her big, round eyes glared at her mom while she sucked her thumb in protest. Every few seconds, she let out a loud sniffle, hoping Mom would notice and feel guilty.
Her face was a perfect picture of baby frustration—hungry, hurt, and refusing to be ignored.
Eventually, her mom looked over and smiled softly. She walked back and gently rubbed Bebe’s head. Bebe’s sucking slowed down. She sniffled again… but deep inside, she felt better just being close.
