Little Lily was full of joy that morning. She had just woken up, stretched her tiny arms, and hoped for some soft cuddles and warm milk from her mom, Libby.

But today… Mommy Libby wasn’t herself.

She was in a nasty mood—tense, impatient, and easily irritated. No one knew why. Maybe she hadn’t slept well. Maybe something had upset her earlier. But sadly, it was Lily who felt the sting of that mood the most.

When Lily reached out sweetly for milk, Libby pushed her aside.

The tiny baby gasped in shock. She blinked, confused—was that a mistake?

She tried again, crawling closer, making soft baby squeaks.

But this time, Libby snapped at her with a warning grunt and even shoved her gently away.

Lily tumbled backward, her tiny face full of hurt. Her bottom lip began to tremble, and tears filled her big eyes. She didn’t understand. She didn’t do anything wrong.

And then the crying came.

Not loud, not angry—just heartbroken.

She sat in the corner, curled up tightly, her cries soft but deep. Other monkeys nearby watched quietly. A few even crept closer, unsure whether to comfort her.

Eventually, Libby looked over and saw her baby, all alone, sniffling and scared.

Her face softened. Maybe she realized she had let her mood hurt someone who loved her most.

Libby walked over slowly and picked Lily up, pressing her close with a quiet grunt that almost sounded like an apology.

Lily hesitated… but then rested her head on Mom’s chest, still sniffling, still sad—but safe again.
