Little Luna sat near the entrance of her tree hollow, her tiny tail curled around her feet. Big tears welled up in her bright eyes as she watched the other baby monkeys swing and play outside, their cheerful giggles filling the jungle air.
She sniffled, wiping her tears with her tiny hands. “Mama, I want to play outside!” she cried, looking up at her mother, Nia.
Nia sighed gently, brushing a soft hand over Luna’s fur. “Sweetheart, it’s raining, and the ground is too slippery. You might fall and get hurt.”
“But Mama,” Luna whined, her little lip trembling, “everyone else is having fun. I don’t want to stay inside!”
She tried to take a step toward the exit, but her mother gently pulled her back. “Luna, I know you want to play, but sometimes we must wait for the right time.”
Luna pouted, crossing her tiny arms. But then—CRASH! A loud noise came from outside. One of the baby monkeys had slipped off a wet branch and tumbled onto the ground with a surprised squeak.
Luna gasped as the little monkey, Bobo, shook his fur and climbed back up, looking embarrassed. Suddenly, she realized her mother was right. The rain had made everything slippery!
Nia smiled knowingly. “See, my love? Sometimes waiting is the best choice.”
Luna sighed, but then an idea lit up her eyes. “Can we play inside until the rain stops?”
Nia grinned. “Of course, my little one.”
And so, Luna and her mother played a fun game of tickles and hide-and-seek inside the warm, cozy tree hollow. Soon, the rain stopped, and when Luna finally stepped outside, the sun was shining, the trees were dry, and it was the perfect time to play.
With a joyful squeal, she joined the other baby monkeys, laughing and swinging freely, knowing her mama always had her best interests at heart.
