Chamroeun’s Big Step: Screaming to Daddy for Milk

Little Chamroeun was known for his bright eyes and loud personality, but today he surprised everyone with something more than just his voice—he took his very first step!

The morning had been like any other. Chamroeun was lying on a soft mat in the front yard of his human family’s home. His dad had just prepared a warm bottle of milk and called gently, “Chamroeun, come here, baby!”

That’s when it happened. Chamroeun squealed with excitement, then suddenly pushed himself up from his belly with all his strength. He wobbled, rocked forward, and took one tiny but powerful step toward his dad.

Then came the scream.

Not one of pain—but of pure determination and impatience! “Aaahh! Ahhh!!” Chamroeun yelled as if to say, “Hurry, Daddy, give it to me!” His little arms reached forward, his mouth wide open, already imagining the taste of the milk.

His dad smiled, stunned and emotional. “You did it, my boy!” he said, holding the bottle close but teasing just a little to encourage another step.

Chamroeun gave another scream, this one even louder. He stomped his foot with all his might—only to topple onto his bottom. But there were no tears. Only a deep breath and a determined shuffle closer.

Finally, he was in his dad’s arms, gulping down his milk with satisfaction, both hands wrapped tightly around the bottle. The family laughed with joy. That one step meant more than just movement—it showed courage, spirit, and the strong bond between a baby monkey and his loving caregiver.

Chamroeun may be small, but with every cry and tiny step, he was growing braver—and hungrier—each day.
