A caregiver nearby noticed his distress and gently approached. The caregiver spoke softly, hoping to reassure the little monkey that he wasn’t completely alone. But Tourtour continued looking toward the doorway, still waiting for the person he wanted most.
The caregiver didn’t scold him or force him to stop crying. Instead, they stayed nearby, making sure he was safe and offering gentle reassurance. Sometimes young monkeys need time to settle when their familiar companion is out of sight.
Tourtour slowly became quieter, but he wasn’t completely happy. Every now and then, he stopped what he was doing and looked toward the entrance again. His little eyes seemed to carry the same question: When will Mom come back?
Then he heard footsteps approaching.
Immediately, Tourtour lifted his head. His ears perked up, and his eyes widened with hope. He watched carefully as someone came closer. For a brief moment, he seemed to forget his sadness.
When Mom finally returned, Tourtour became excited. He moved toward her, making little sounds and reaching out with his tiny hands. Mom gently approached and offered him comfort.
The little monkey gradually relaxed. His crying softened, and he stayed close to his mother, enjoying the familiar feeling of having her nearby again.
It was such a touching moment. Tourtour didn’t need expensive toys or anything complicated. He simply wanted the reassurance that someone he trusted was close enough to comfort him.
Of course, young monkeys also need to learn to feel secure during short separations, and patient, consistent care can help them develop confidence over time.
