Chichi’s Warm Hug Before the First Meal

The morning light was soft as it poured into the small nursery room. Nestled in a cozy towel bed was a newborn baby monkey, still too tiny to even lift its head. Its eyes blinked slowly, adjusting to the world—a world it didn’t understand yet.

Right beside the newborn sat Chichi—a gentle soul, older than the newborn but still a baby herself. She had seen new arrivals before, but this one stirred something different in her little heart.

The newborn whimpered softly, unsure, hungry, and cold.

Chichi looked over, curious at first, then slowly inched closer. With a tenderness beyond her age, she reached out her tiny arms and wrapped them gently around the newborn’s fragile body.

It wasn’t tight—just enough.

Just enough to make the newborn feel something it had never truly felt before: a hug.

The baby calmed. Its little fingers curled around Chichi’s fur, and the room felt warmer.

A soft voice came from the corner. “Are you hungry, babies?”
Mom walked in with two warm bottles of milk.

Chichi glanced up but didn’t move. She stayed beside her new friend, her arms still wrapped around the tiny baby, as if to say, “I’ll help you feel safe first.”

Mom smiled at the scene.
“Chichi, you have such a warm heart,” she whispered.

As the bottles were gently offered, the newborn drank slowly, still held in Chichi’s arms. Her closeness gave the new baby courage. Her hug said everything—
“You’re not alone.”

And in that moment, two tiny lives shared something beautiful:
A meal, a hug, and a feeling of family.
