Chamroeun’s Tantrum Over a Late Lunch

The sun had already climbed high, and little Chamroeun was wide awake, full of energy—and hunger. His tummy rumbled as he wandered around the yard, eyes glued to the kitchen where delicious smells floated through the air.

But lunch… still wasn’t ready.

Mom stood near the stove, carefully preparing the food. She stirred slowly, making sure everything was just right for her little one. But Chamroeun didn’t care about perfection. He wanted food now.

He stood near the door, tapping his tiny feet impatiently. Then, with a dramatic stomp, he stood up tall, puffed his chest, and let out a loud, angry scream.

“EEEEEHHHHH!!”

Mom turned, surprised.
“Chamroeun! What’s wrong, my baby?”

But Chamroeun didn’t stop. He waved his arms, shook his head, and made it very clear:
He was not happy.

The pot was taking too long. The smell of food was teasing him, and waiting felt like forever. His little face turned red, eyes watering—not from sadness, but pure toddler frustration.

Mom couldn’t help but laugh softly. “Just a few more minutes, sweetheart.”

But Chamroeun didn’t want to hear it. He sat down with a dramatic thump, arms crossed, muttering little grunts of disapproval.

Then, finally—the food was ready.

Mom placed the bowl down gently and called him over.
Chamroeun ran to her, the anger quickly melting away as he saw his favorite warm meal.

He took one bite… then looked up at her with a shy little smile.

All was forgiven.

Sometimes, being a baby means having big feelings about small things.
And Chamroeun’s hunger tantrum?
Just a sign of how much he trusted Mommy to always take care of him.
