Tomo, a tiny baby monkey with big eyes and soft fur, lived as a beloved pet in a quiet village home. He had his own little bed, toys, and even a favorite blanket—but nothing made him feel safe like being in his mom’s arms.
One morning, the house was unusually quiet. Tomo woke up in his cozy basket, looked around, and didn’t see his mom. She had stepped out to the garden for just a moment, but to Tomo, it felt like forever.
Panicked, he climbed down and waddled over to the wooden stairway near the porch. He hugged the stair fence tightly with both arms, his tiny fingers gripping the rails.
“Eeeeh! Eeeeh!” he cried loudly, tears rolling down his cheeks.
Neighbors passing by stopped and looked. The little monkey’s cries were full of sadness and fear. He called and called, hoping his mom would hear.
Inside the house, the sound of crying reached his mom’s ears. She dropped the watering can and rushed back to the porch.
“Tomo!” she called out.
Tomo looked up, still clinging to the fence.
The moment he saw her, he cried even louder, but this time with relief. His little body trembled as she reached down and gently picked him up.
He wrapped his arms around her neck tightly, snuggling into her shoulder. His cries softened into quiet hiccups. Mom kissed his head and whispered, “I’m right here, baby.”
She carried him back inside, where he curled up in her lap, finally calm.
For Tomo, the world was scary without Mom—but with her, everything felt safe again.
