In a quiet corner of the house, little baby monkey Lily sat trembling, her eyes filled with tears and her chest rising and falling from heavy sobs. Just moments before, she had been cuddling happily with her mom, Libbyâbut something upset Libby, and she gently walked away, needing a break.
Lily didnât understand.
The moment Libby stepped away, Lilyâs whole world crumbled. Her tiny lips quivered. Then came the wailâsharp, emotional, and heartbreaking. She cried out with all her little might, calling for her mom in the only way she knew how.
She rolled on the soft carpet, arms outstretched, legs kicking, her voice echoing through the room. Her eyes darted toward the doorway where Libby had disappeared, as if willing her to return. She couldnât believe Mom had left herâeven for a minute.
Nearby, the human family watched with gentle concern, knowing Lilyâs emotions were big and real. They tried offering her a toy, a warm blanket, even a small fruitâbut nothing worked. Lily didnât want toys. She didnât want snacks.
She just wanted Libby.
Minutes passed, and then soft footsteps approached. Libby returned, calm and composed, her eyes scanning the room until they landed on her baby. Lily spotted her and instantly crawled over, crying harder as she clung to her momâs fur.
Libby pulled her close, pressing her head gently against her chest.
The crying slowed. The shaking stopped. And in that warm embrace, Lily finally felt whole again.
Even the smallest monkeys feel deep sadnessâand even a short separation can feel like forever. But when love returns, everything becomes right again.
Lily curled up in Libbyâs arms, safe once more. đđ
