Tiny baby monkey Bebe lay curled on a soft blanket, her belly rumbling, her eyes wide and watery. The world felt too quiet, too empty—because Mommy wasn’t there yet.

She had been waiting.
And waiting.
And now, she was crying.

Soft at first—just a few little whimpers. But as the moments stretched on, her whimpers turned into full sobs. Her tiny arms reached up, as if calling into the air, “Mommy, where are you?”

She rolled onto her side, her tail twitching with frustration.
Her tummy growled again.
She knew what she wanted: warm, sweet milk and her mom’s soft fur wrapped around her.

Caretakers nearby tried to comfort her, but it wasn’t the same. Bebe wanted her mom, her scent, her warmth. That was the only thing that would calm the storm inside her little heart.
