Tiny Yuri was enjoying a quiet time outside with Mommy when something unexpected happened. Mommy suddenly needed to go inside the house for a moment.

“I’ll be right back, Yuri,” she said gently.

Yuri watched her walk toward the door.

At first, he seemed completely calm.

He sat quietly and waited.

The door opened.

Mommy stepped inside.

Then the door closed.

Yuri stared at it.

A few seconds passed.

He waited.

Still nothing.

Yuri tilted his little head toward the doorway, clearly expecting Mommy to return immediately.

“Eee… Mommy?”

No answer.

His tiny face slowly became sad.

He waited a little longer.

Then his lower lip began to tremble.

“Eeeee… eeee!”

Yuri suddenly started crying loudly. His little hands reached toward the house as though he could somehow call Mommy back through the door.

“Mommy! Mommy!”

His cries became more emotional with every passing moment.

Poor Yuri didn’t understand why Mommy was taking so long. To Mommy, it was only a short moment inside the house, but to the impatient little monkey, it felt like forever.

Yuri sat near the safe area by the doorway, looking at the door with watery eyes.

“Eeeeeee!”

He made the most dramatic little crying sounds, almost like a baby calling for his mother.

A few moments later, Mommy heard him.

“Oh, Yuri! Mommy hears you!”

The moment Yuri recognized her voice, his crying became even louder.

He reached both arms toward the doorway.

Mommy came back outside and smiled.

“Oh, my poor baby. Were you waiting for Mommy?”

Yuri immediately moved toward her and reached up with both hands.

Mommy gently picked him up once it was safe to do so.

Yuri pressed his face against her and continued making tiny emotional whimpers.

“I’m here,” Mommy whispered. “I only went inside for a little while.”

Yuri wasn’t interested in explanations.

He simply wanted his Mommy.

His little arms wrapped around her, and his tears slowly began to disappear. Mommy gently stroked his back and stayed close until he felt calm again.

“There you go, Yuri. Mommy came back.”

Yuri lifted his head and looked at her with his big, watery eyes.

Mommy smiled.

“Did you miss me that much?”

Yuri gave one tiny squeak and cuddled against her again.

The dramatic crying finally stopped.

Mommy stayed beside him for a while, reassuring him with a gentle voice. Yuri eventually relaxed completely, resting peacefully against her.

His long wait was finally over.

For tiny Yuri, Mommy had only been gone for a short time—but those few minutes had felt like the longest wait in the world.
