The afternoon was quiet as warm sunlight streamed through the windows.

Little baby monkey Max sat on his soft blanket, happily playing with a tiny stuffed bunny while Mom tidied the room nearby.

For a while, everything felt perfect.

Max smiled, hugged his toy, and softly babbled to himself.

Then Mom quietly stepped into the next room to wash his bottle.

She was only gone for a minute.

But to little Max, it felt much longer.

He looked up from his toy and searched the room with his bright eyes.

No Mom.

He turned toward the doorway.

Still no Mom.

His tiny smile slowly disappeared.

His little lips began to tremble.

He called out with a soft squeak.

“Mama?”

There was no answer.

Fear crept into his little heart.

He felt all alone.

Within seconds, tiny tears filled his eyes.

“WAAAAAH!”

His cries echoed through the house.

He stretched both little arms toward the doorway, hoping Mom would appear.

His favorite stuffed bunny lay forgotten beside him.

Nothing could comfort him now.

He only wanted Mom.

Dad heard the loud cries and hurried over.

“It’s okay, Max,” he said gently. “Mommy is just nearby.”

Dad knelt beside him and softly rubbed his tiny back.

But Max continued crying.

Although he loved Dad, his frightened little heart was searching for Mom’s comforting embrace.

Mom heard the cries from the kitchen and quickly returned.

“My precious baby!”

The moment Max saw her, his tear-filled eyes sparkled with relief.

He reached both tiny arms toward her as fast as he could.

Mom smiled warmly and lifted him into a gentle hug.

“I’m right here,” she whispered.

“You were never alone.”

Max buried his face against her shoulder and held onto her shirt with both tiny hands.

His loud sobs slowly faded into quiet sniffles.

Mom gently rocked him back and forth while softly humming his favorite lullaby.

The familiar sound of her heartbeat calmed his frightened heart.

Soon, his tiny body relaxed completely.

Dad smiled.

“Looks like someone just needed Mommy.”

Mom laughed softly.

“He wanted to know I would come back.”

Just then, Chichi walked over carrying Max’s colorful ball.

She gently rolled it across the floor.

Max peeked at it from Mom’s shoulder.

A tiny smile appeared on his face.

Mom carefully sat down with Max still in her lap.

Together, she and Chichi rolled the ball back and forth until Max began laughing again.

The scary moment was already becoming a happy memory.

As the evening grew quiet, Max rested comfortably in Mom’s warm arms.

He looked up at her with sleepy eyes, feeling safe once more.

Mom kissed his forehead and whispered, “Whenever you’re afraid, remember that Mommy’s love is never far away.”

Max closed his eyes and smiled.

He had learned that even if he couldn’t always see Mom, her love was always close, ready to comfort him whenever he needed a warm hug.

Wrapped in the safety of Mom’s embrace and surrounded by the love of his family, little Max drifted peacefully to sleep, knowing he would never face his fears alone.
