The morning sun glowed softly through the window as Dad tried to check the small bunny’s paw. She had been hopping around clumsily, and Dad noticed she was limping just a little. Worried, he reached down carefully, trying to lift her delicate hand to see if it was hurt.
But the moment his fingers touched her, the tiny bunny froze, her eyes wide with fear. Then suddenly — she let out a loud squeak and kicked wildly, her ears twitching fast. Her whole body trembled as she pulled her paw away, hiding it under her chest like she was protecting a secret.
“Hey, hey, sweetheart, it’s okay,” Dad said gently, his voice soft but full of worry. But the bunny didn’t calm down. Her breathing came fast, her tiny heart racing. She stomped once, then again — a clear sign she was both angry and scared.
Dad sighed, realizing how terrified she was. He sat still, letting her come closer instead. Slowly, the bunny peeked out, her nose twitching as if she was trying to decide if she could trust him again. Her fur puffed slightly, her eyes watching every move he made.
He didn’t reach for her this time. Instead, he held out a small treat — a piece of her favorite soft carrot. After a few moments, her fear began to fade. She hopped closer, still cautious, but finally took a tiny bite from his hand.
“There you go, my little warrior,” Dad whispered with a smile. “No one’s going to hurt you.”
Bit by bit, she relaxed. Her little paw peeked out again, still trembling but no longer hidden. Dad noticed there was no injury — just a small patch of dirt stuck to her fur. Carefully, without grabbing, he brushed it away.
The bunny blinked, sniffed his fingers, and finally let out a soft squeak — this time not of fear, but of calm. She pressed her head against his palm, forgiving him in her own sweet way.
Dad chuckled quietly, stroking her soft back. “You’re such a brave little one,” he said lovingly.
