Chamroeun Sits in the Corner, Angry at Daddy

The afternoon light streamed softly into the yard, but little Chamroeun wasn’t in the mood to enjoy it. He sat all alone in the far corner, his tiny back turned to the house, his arms crossed tightly. His fluffy tail twitched slightly, the only sign he was still listening to the world around him.

Daddy had tried earlier to bring him inside — maybe for a nap, maybe to rest after a long playtime. But Chamroeun wasn’t ready. The fresh air, the open space, and the soft earth under his feet were far more exciting than the quiet walls of the house.

When Daddy reached for him, Chamroeun shook his head, refusing to move. Daddy tried again, speaking softly, but Chamroeun’s little face turned away in stubborn defiance. The final attempt ended with Chamroeun wriggling free and running straight to the corner, plopping down and glaring at the ground.

It wasn’t just about going inside — oh no. This was about principle. In Chamroeun’s tiny mind, Daddy had spoiled his fun, and that was unacceptable.

From across the yard, Daddy watched patiently. He knew that pushing too hard would only make his little one more upset. So he sat nearby, waiting for the moment when Chamroeun’s stubborn heart would soften.

Minutes passed. Chamroeun occasionally peeked over his shoulder, making sure Daddy was still there. His eyes were still sharp with frustration, but slowly, his frown began to fade.

Finally, with a reluctant shuffle, Chamroeun stood up and walked toward Daddy. No words were needed — just a quiet climb into Daddy’s lap, his earlier anger melting into the comfort of warm arms.

He still didn’t want to go inside… but with Daddy holding him, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.
