It was a quiet afternoon when tiny baby monkey Yuri found herself all alone on the soft mat by the porch. The warm sun peeked through the trees, and birds chirped gently in the distance—but Yuri didn’t hear any of it.
She looked left. She looked right.
No mom. No familiar touch. No milk.
Her little heart started to race. Her breathing grew fast. The calmness of the yard suddenly felt scary. And then—the crying began.
“EEEHH! EEEEHHHH!!” she wailed, her tiny voice trembling with fear. Her arms stretched out, reaching for someone—anyone. Her body shook as she dropped onto her knees, believing the unthinkable:
Mom had left her.
She cried harder, her voice echoing. “Eeehhh! Maaa!”
Tears streamed down her cheeks, soaking into her soft fur. Her chest heaved as her cries turned into deep, desperate sobs. It wasn’t just sadness—it was heartbreak.
But what Yuri didn’t know was that Mom had only stepped away for a moment—just to grab a fresh blanket and milk bottle. She was only a few steps away.
The moment Mom heard the cries, she rushed back, alarmed.
“Yuri! Oh, my baby!” she called.
Yuri froze. She turned around, eyes wide. When she saw her mother running back, her cry turned into a breathless gasp. She stumbled forward and fell into Mom’s arms, holding on so tightly her fingers dug into Mom’s fur.
Mom sat down, cradling her, whispering, “I would never leave you… never.”
Yuri continued to sob in her arms, this time out of relief. Slowly, her body relaxed. She curled into Mom’s chest, still sniffling softly.
And as she drifted off into a nap, one thing was clear—Yuri’s world was whole again… because Mom came back.
