Tiny Yaya had never left the safety of home before. The smells, the walls, the warm blankets—all of it made her feel secure. But today, Mom thought it was time for a short outdoor ride. She gently placed Yaya in her arms and sat on the motorbike, hoping her little one would enjoy the breeze.
But the moment the engine buzzed softly beneath them, Yaya’s eyes widened.
Her tiny body tensed.
Her little hands gripped tightly onto Mom’s shirt.
Then—came the scream.
“EEEEEHHHH!!”
She cried out in panic, tail twitching wildly, eyes darting in every direction. The wind felt cold. The sky looked too big. Strange sounds filled the air—dogs barking, people shouting, motorbikes zooming by.
It was all too much.
She didn’t understand this world. She didn’t want to see it. She only wanted her soft blanket and the quiet room she knew.
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she buried her head into Mom’s chest, crying harder, louder, desperate to go home.
Mom quickly stopped the bike, heart aching. She stroked Yaya’s back and whispered, “It’s okay, baby. We don’t have to go. Not yet.”
Yaya whimpered as she was gently lifted off the bike. Back inside the house, she calmed instantly, curling into Mom’s lap, safe once again in her little world.
And Mom knew—some babies aren’t ready to explore right away.
And that’s okay.
For now, Yaya just needed one thing:
Love, comfort, and the gentle promise that home will always be her safe place.
