A Tong Cries Out for Mom’s Comfort

In the middle of a quiet yard, baby monkey A Tong sat alone, his tiny face scrunched with frustration. His little chest rose and fell quickly, and then came the sound—his loud, moody shout echoed across the space. It wasn’t just noise—it was a call straight from his little heart.

He missed his mom.

Mom had just stepped away for a few moments, maybe to eat or care for another baby, but to A Tong, it felt like forever. His tiny hands slammed the ground gently as he called for her, eyes scanning every direction. Where was she? Why wasn’t she holding him right now?

His tantrum grew stronger. He stomped around in circles, making his little body known to the world. His need for comfort was more than hunger—it was a deep longing for warmth, for a cuddle, for the gentle rhythm of mom’s heartbeat.

Nearby, a caregiver watched him closely, understanding the emotion. A Tong had always been an emotional little one—attached, sensitive, and expressive. It was part of what made him so special. When he loved, he loved with all his heart.

The caregiver knelt down, arms open wide. “Come here, baby,” they whispered.

But A Tong refused at first—he didn’t want a substitute. He wanted her. His mom.

Then, as if answering his heart, his mom finally reappeared. She moved slowly toward him, and A Tong’s shouting stopped. His wide, tearful eyes locked onto her, and he ran—straight into her arms.

She hugged him gently, and A Tong snuggled close, heart finally calm.

Sometimes, even a strong little monkey just needs to feel that he’s safe… and loved.
