Wild Baby Calvin Rejected by Mom Casi – Weak and Alone

Comments Off on Wild Baby Calvin Rejected by Mom Casi – Weak and Alone

In the dense shade of the jungle clearing, a heartbreaking scene unfolded. Newborn baby monkey Calvin, just hours old, lay weak on the forest floor. His tiny body was curled up against a tree root, barely moving, and his cries were soft—almost fading into the rustling leaves around him.

His mother, Casi, a wild female known to the troop, sat nearby—but not close enough. Her eyes were distant, and despite her instinct to care, something held her back. Whether it was confusion, fear, or rejection due to weakness in the baby, no one could say for certain. The bond that was meant to protect Calvin was broken before it could begin.

Calvin tried to lift his head and crawl toward her, but his frail body had no strength left. He cried out in hunger and cold, but Casi only glanced over before turning her attention back to the higher branches. No grooming. No nursing. Just silence between mother and child.

Wildlife observers, quietly monitoring nearby, noted the dangerous signs. In the wild, a baby without maternal care has little chance. But today, the observers decided to step in. With careful hands, they approached and gently lifted Calvin, his small chest rising faintly with breath.

He was given a soft cloth wrap and kept warm. Drops of milk substitute were placed gently into his mouth, trying not to overwhelm his weak system. There was still hope—but it would be a long road.

Casi watched from a branch but did not interfere.

This is the unseen side of nature—raw and real. Not every baby survives, but today, someone cared enough to try.
