Bath time had just begun in the cozy corner of the kitchen. Baby monkey Lika sat in a small basin filled with warm water, her fur gently soaked and her little rubber duck floating beside her.
Mom had just finished rinsing her arms when she realized — she forgot the shampoo!
“I’ll be right back,” Mom motioned softly, stepping only a few feet away to grab the bottle.
But for Lika, that moment felt like abandonment.
The second Mom turned, Lika’s face twisted. Her eyes widened, her bottom lip pushed out, and she let out a sharp, dramatic scream:
“EEEEEHHHHHHH!!”
She splashed both arms into the water, soaking everything nearby. The rubber duck flew out of the basin. Her tail flipped up like an antenna, and the crying only grew louder.
“Maaah! MA-MA!”
Mom rushed back, holding the shampoo. “Oh my goodness, Lika! I was only gone for five seconds!”
But Lika didn’t care. In her mind, bath time had turned into a disaster movie.
She refused to calm down, clinging to the edge of the tub, eyes darting left and right like she’d been abandoned in a waterfall. Her cries echoed through the house, making even the cat peek around the corner.
Mom dropped the shampoo and scooped her up in a towel. Instantly, the crying softened.
Wrapped in her warm towel, tucked against Mom’s chest, Lika took a deep breath and whimpered one last time — as if to say, “Don’t ever leave me again, even for shampoo.”
Mom kissed her damp forehead. “You silly little drama queen.”
Lika sniffled… and then let out a tiny, cheeky giggle.
