Little PorPor, the baby monkey, was always full of energy and clingy love. But this morning, something felt off. His mom had gone just a few steps away to grab some fruit, but to PorPor, it felt like she had disappeared forever.
Left sitting on a patch of grass near the trees, PorPor began to look around with worried eyes. No sight of his mama. His lips trembled. His tiny hands clutched the dirt. And then—it started.
A loud, heartbreaking cry.
He threw his head back and screamed with everything his tiny lungs could manage. His little body trembled as tears streamed down his furry cheeks. He didn’t want food or toys. He didn’t want to explore. He just wanted his mother to pick him up.
Other monkeys turned their heads at the sound. Caregivers rushed over, thinking he was hurt. But there was no injury—just pure panic and longing in that baby’s heart.
PorPor continued to cry, calling out with desperate sounds, pacing in small circles, then sitting and crying again. His voice echoed with such sadness it could break anyone’s heart.
Then, finally—Mama appeared.
She hurried over with her arms out. PorPor spotted her and instantly ran, leaping into her embrace. The crying stopped as soon as he felt her warmth. He clung tightly to her, face buried in her chest, breathing in relief.
She held him close, grooming his tiny back and whispering love in her monkey way.
It was a small moment—but for PorPor, it meant the world. Because sometimes, all a baby needs is to be held.
