Ricky Waits on the Chair, Calling for Mom to Take Care of Him

Little baby monkey Ricky sat alone on a small wooden chair in the corner of the room. His arms hugged his knees tightly, and his big round eyes scanned the space with worry. He wasn’t playing. He wasn’t exploring. Today, Ricky only wanted one thing—his mom.

Earlier, Mom had walked away to take a quick break, maybe just to grab something nearby. But Ricky didn’t understand time like humans do. To him, the seconds felt like hours. His tiny heart beat fast, and his little mouth opened to let out soft cries, calling, “Eee-eee!” over and over again.

He looked around with hope, then disappointment, then hope again. Would she come? Why was she gone so long?

Caretakers nearby noticed him and tried to cheer him up. One offered a banana slice. Another brought over a soft stuffed toy. But Ricky politely pushed them away. He didn’t want treats or toys. He just wanted to feel safe in his mother’s arms.

So he stayed there, still and small, curled up on the chair like a lonely little puffball, calling again, a little louder this time.

And then—it happened.

The door creaked open, and Mom stepped in. Ricky’s face lit up instantly. His sad cries turned into excited chirps. He stood on the chair, arms stretched toward her. Mom rushed over and scooped him up in one gentle motion.

He wrapped himself around her, clinging tightly to her chest. He let out one last soft whimper before melting into her warmth. She groomed his head gently, calming his little heart.

Ricky didn’t need anything else—not toys, not snacks—just Mom.

Because no matter how brave he tried to be, Mom was his safe place. 🐒❤️
