Little Timo was always a brave baby monkey—until today. As he played near the caretaker’s hut, he suddenly noticed something strange. A small, fuzzy creature was staring back at him from a shiny metal pan left on the ground.
Timo froze. His tiny body stiffened, and his big round eyes widened in fear. Who was this creature? Why was it looking at him so intensely? He took a step forward, and to his horror, the creature did the same. He jumped back—so did the stranger!
A shrill cry escaped his mouth. His little heart pounded as he raised his tiny hand to swat at the intruder. But before he could strike, the creature did something even more terrifying—it copied his movement exactly!
Timo let out a dramatic screech and tumbled backward, rolling onto his back in panic. The other baby monkeys stopped playing and turned to look at him, curious about what had scared him so much.
“What’s wrong with Timo?” one of them chattered.
The caretaker chuckled, realizing what was happening. Timo had just discovered his own reflection!
Still shaken, Timo slowly crept back toward the pan, peeking over the edge. The creature was still there, staring right at him. This time, he stuck out his tongue—and to his shock, the creature did the same!
Confused, he tried waving his hands. Again, the reflection followed. He turned his head, blinked rapidly, and even jumped up and down—everything was copied perfectly!
Finally, Timo huffed and stomped away, deciding this was some kind of strange magic. But as he left, he couldn’t help but glance back once more. Maybe… just maybe… that little creature wasn’t so scary after all.
