Tiny Misskoi sat all alone, her small body trembling as she scanned the surroundings. Her mother was nowhere in sight. Panic filled her little heart, and a deep sadness welled up inside her. With a shaky breath, she opened her mouth and let out the loudest cry she could manage.
“Mom!!” her wails seemed to call. She sniffled, tears streaming down her tiny face. The more she cried, the more her voice cracked, but she didn’t stop. She wanted her mother—she needed her mother.
Misskoi’s tiny hands reached out as if grasping for the warmth of her mother’s embrace. She shuffled around, looking in every direction, but all she saw were leaves swaying in the wind. Her cries grew louder, desperate, heartbreaking.
She hiccupped between sobs, her little chest rising and falling quickly. Would her mother come? Had she been left behind? These thoughts made her cry even harder.
Just as the fear was about to overwhelm her, a familiar scent brushed past her tiny nose. Then, a soft, gentle touch—warm, comforting. Misskoi blinked through her tears and looked up.
There she was—Mom!
Misskoi’s cries turned into tiny whimpers as she flung herself into her mother’s arms. She buried her face into her soft fur, taking in the scent she had missed so much. Mom held her close, whispering reassurance, gently stroking her back.
Safe at last, Misskoi finally calmed down. Her cries faded into soft sniffles as she clung to her mother, unwilling to let go. In her embrace, all the fear disappeared, and little Misskoi knew she was home.
