Little Jasmine sat on Mom’s lap, her tiny hands clinging to Mom’s arm.
Mom stood up, getting ready to leave for a little while.
But Jasmine felt it.
Her little heart squeezed.
Her eyes widened.
“Nooo, Mommy!!” she cried, wrapping her arms around Mom’s waist.
Mom laughed gently. “Jasmine, sweetheart, I’ll be back soon.”
But Jasmine shook her head furiously.
“No leaving!! Stay with me!” she demanded, her tail curling tightly around Mom’s wrist.
Mom knelt down, stroking Jasmine’s soft fur.
“But baby, I’ll come back in no time.”
Jasmine pouted hard, her lips trembling.
Tears welled up.
“What if I miss you too much?!” she whimpered.
Mom’s heart melted.
She kissed Jasmine’s tiny forehead.
“How about this? I’ll give you a BIG hug now and a BIGGER one when I return!”
Jasmine thought for a moment… but still wasn’t convinced.
She clung tighter. “Promise?”
Mom smiled. “Pinky promise!”
Jasmine hesitated… then slowly let go, but not without one last tight squeeze.
Mom hugged her extra long.
Jasmine sighed deeply, her little heart finally calming.
“Okay…” she sniffled. “But come back fast!”
Mom giggled. “I always do.”
As she walked away, Jasmine sat watching, waiting, counting the moments…
Because nothing felt better than when Mom came back to hug her again. 💕🐒
