A Tong, the newborn baby monkey, was having a tough time today.
Lying in his little cozy spot, he looked around with wide eyes, searching for something. But something wasn’t right. He needed mama.
As soon as he realized that mama wasn’t around, his face scrunched up in frustration. His tiny hands waved in the air, and then came the loudest cry.
“WAAAHHHH!” he screamed, throwing his arms about in the air as if begging for mama’s attention.
The little monkey didn’t understand that mama had been just a few steps away, busy with other things, but to him, every second felt like an eternity without her.
His tiny body shivered with each cry as he continued to throw his little tantrum. He kicked his feet, his face turning red with each sob, desperately hoping mama would come to him.
Finally, after what felt like forever to A Tong, mama heard his cries and rushed over. “Oh, baby, I’m here!” she said, scooping him up into her warm arms.
A Tong’s little hands immediately gripped mama’s fingers as he snuggled into her chest. He could feel her heartbeat, and the warmth of her embrace made everything feel okay again.
“I’m sorry, little one. Mama was just busy, but I’ll never leave you for long,” she whispered, kissing his tiny head.
And with that, A Tong stopped crying, finally at peace in mama’s arms. For now, he knew he was safe, loved, and always the center of her world.
