The afternoon was peaceful, with the sun shining softly through the trees. Baby monkey Yuri sat on the wooden bench, swinging her tiny legs, watching her mom. Everything was fine—until she saw Mom pick up little Mako and cuddle him!
Yuri’s eyes widened. Her tiny hands clenched into fists.
“Eeeh! Eeeh! No! No!” she screamed, her face turning red with jealousy.
Mom gently rocked Mako in her arms, patting his back, but Yuri couldn’t stand it. She jumped down, stomped her feet, and ran straight to Mom. She grabbed at Mom’s arm, trying to pull her away from Mako.
“Miiiii! Miiiii!” she cried dramatically, shaking her body.
Mom sighed and looked at her. “Yuri, why are you acting like this?”
But Yuri refused to answer! She just moaned loudly, swinging her arms and stamping her feet in frustration.
Poor Mako blinked, confused. He was just a tiny baby—why was Yuri so mad at him?
Then, Yuri did the unthinkable—she sat on the ground and started rolling back and forth, crying even louder. She wanted all of Mom’s attention, and she wasn’t going to stop until she got it!
Mom sighed again and reached out to pull Yuri onto her lap. She stroked her fur gently.
“Yuri, you don’t need to be jealous. Mommy loves both of you.”
At last, Yuri sniffled and leaned against her mom, but she kept her eye on Mako—just in case. This wasn’t over yet!
