Jasmine’s Jealousy

Day by day, little Jasmine watched as her mother cradled the smallest baby monkey, Koi. Jasmine used to be the center of attention, always held, always spoiled. But now, things had changed. Koi was tiny, fragile, and needed extra care. Jasmine didn’t like it.

At first, she only pouted, sitting with her arms crossed, watching as Mom gently hugged Koi and fed her milk. But soon, jealousy turned into mischief. When no one was looking, Jasmine would nudge Koi off their sleeping spot or pull on her tiny tail just to hear her squeak. It gave her a strange sense of satisfaction.

One afternoon, while Mom was grooming Koi, Jasmine couldn’t control her frustration anymore. She lunged forward and grabbed Koi’s tiny hand, pulling her away. Koi let out a high-pitched cry, struggling to escape Jasmine’s grip. Mom immediately turned around, her sharp eyes filled with warning.

“Jasmine!” Mom’s voice was firm. She gently pulled Koi back into her arms and gave Jasmine a look that made her freeze.

Jasmine lowered her head, but inside, her emotions were boiling. She didn’t understand why Mom loved Koi more. Why did this tiny baby take everything away from her?

That night, Jasmine sat in the corner, sulking. She watched as Mom rocked Koi to sleep. But then, something surprising happened—Mom reached out her arm, inviting Jasmine in.

Jasmine hesitated, but then slowly crawled closer. As Mom wrapped her arms around both of them, Jasmine felt a strange warmth. Maybe Mom didn’t love Koi more. Maybe, just maybe, there was enough love for both of them.

And for the first time in days, Jasmine didn’t feel jealous—she just felt safe.
