The morning sun was warm, and the soft breeze blew through the trees. Baby monkey A Tong was playing near the house, but his tiny heart was already feeling uneasy. His mom had walked a few steps away to grab something, and that was enough to make him panic.

“Eeeeh! Eeeeh!” A Tong let out a loud, desperate cry as he plopped onto the ground. His tiny hands grabbed at the dirt, and his little face scrunched up with frustration.

He didn’t want to walk to his mom—no, he wanted her to come and pick him up! His tiny body shook as he cried louder, kicking his legs in protest.

Their mom, hearing his loud wails, turned around and sighed. “A Tong, what happened?” she asked gently.

But A Tong didn’t answer—he only screamed louder, rolling slightly on the ground, making sure his mom knew just how upset he was.

Still, she didn’t rush to pick him up immediately. Instead, she crouched down, opened her arms, and called him softly. “Come here, A Tong. You can walk.”

But A Tong only cried harder, shaking his head dramatically. His little tail twitched as he stared at her with teary eyes. He was too upset to move.

Finally, his mom gave in. She walked over, scooped him up, and cradled him close to her chest.

Instantly, the tears stopped. A Tong sniffled, resting his tiny face against her, feeling safe again.

His mom chuckled softly. “Oh, my little drama king.” She patted his back gently, knowing that soon enough, A Tong would be playing happily again—until the next time he needed to be picked up.
