The afternoon air was filled with the gentle clucks of chickens scratching around the yard, their feathers glimmering under the soft sun. Little Doddy, the tiniest baby monkey in the family, loved to watch them play. His curious eyes followed every movement, his little hands gripping the edge of the wooden chicken cage as he tried to peek inside.
He wanted to be brave — to climb a little higher like his bigger friends. Slowly, he pulled himself up, tail twitching with excitement. For a moment, he balanced proudly on the top bar, smiling in triumph. But then, his tiny foot slipped. In a heartbeat, his balance was gone.
Doddy tumbled backward, landing on the soft dirt with a thud. For a second, there was silence. Then came the cry — loud, sharp, and heartbreaking. “Eeeeh! Eeeeh!” His small body trembled as tears welled up in his eyes. He kicked his legs, rolling on the ground in pure frustration and pain. His lip quivered, his little hands rubbing his sore spot, while his cries grew louder with every second.
Mom rushed over, her heart racing as she scooped him up from the ground. “Oh, my poor baby,” she whispered, brushing off the dirt from his fur. Doddy clung tightly to her neck, still sobbing, his face buried against her shoulder. She kissed his tiny head softly and rocked him in slow, comforting motions.
After a while, his breathing began to slow. His cries turned into soft sniffles, and his tiny fingers relaxed. Mom wiped his tears gently and whispered, “You’re safe now, my little boy.”
Doddy nestled deeper into her arms, eyes heavy with exhaustion. The scare was over — replaced by warmth, safety, and the unshakable comfort of a mother’s love.
