Little Luna was not happy at all when Daddy sat her on his lap to trim her tiny nails. The moment she saw the shiny nail cutter, her little face twisted with worry. She didn’t understand that this was for her safety, to keep her from scratching her delicate skin. All she felt was fear, and fear turned quickly into loud cries that echoed through the room.
Her arms waved, her legs kicked, and her voice grew stronger with every passing second. Luna cried so loudly that even the neighbors could have heard her, as if she wanted the whole world to know she did not agree with this. Daddy tried to calm her with gentle words, holding her hand softly, but she pulled back each time, refusing to let him near her nails.
The tiny monkey clung to Daddy’s shirt, burying her face against his chest, her cries muffled but still heartbreaking. Daddy kissed the top of her head, whispering reassurance, and tried again with patience. Finally, while Luna whimpered and wiggled, he managed to trim just one nail. Her scream grew even louder, as if the whole process was the greatest injustice in her little world.
But Daddy never gave up. Bit by bit, between cries and wiggles, he finished the job. When it was finally over, Luna clung tightly to him, her eyes teary, her chest still heaving from all the crying. Daddy rocked her gently, and slowly her sobs softened into sniffles.
Though she hated every moment of nail cutting, Luna’s little hands were now safe and clean. And in the end, she was still wrapped in Daddy’s loving arms, where she knew she would always be cared for.
