Little Kobie had always been a curious and playful baby monkey, full of energy and joy. But on this particular morning, something unusual happened that left him terrified. His mom thought it would be funny to put on a Batman mask, thinking perhaps Kobie might find it entertaining. But for a tiny baby monkey, the sudden change of his mother’s face was more frightening than exciting.
As soon as Mom stepped closer, her face covered with the dark mask, Kobie’s little eyes widened in shock. He froze for a moment, then suddenly let out the loudest scream he could manage. His cries echoed through the house as he scrambled backward, clutching the edge of the bed with trembling little hands.
He didn’t understand it was just Mom pretending. To him, she no longer looked like the loving face he knew so well but a scary, strange figure that made his tiny heart race in fear. Kobie screamed and cried, reaching out desperately as if asking her to take it off. His little tail twitched nervously, and his chest rose and fell quickly with every sob.
Seeing his fear, Mom immediately removed the mask and rushed to comfort him. She scooped him up gently, pressing him against her chest. Kobie buried his face into her neck, still shaking, but slowly calming down as her familiar warmth and scent reassured him. His cries turned into soft whimpers, then into little sniffles, until finally, he wrapped his arms around her tightly.
It was a reminder that baby monkeys, like human babies, need comfort, trust, and gentleness. What was a simple joke for adults turned into a frightening experience for little Kobie. But with Mom’s cuddles and care, his fear melted away, and he once again felt safe in her arms
