In a warm, quiet corner of the house, nestled inside a soft woven basket, tiny newborn monkey Dody lay curled up like a fuzzy bean. Just a few days old, his fur was barely fluffy, and his big eyes blinked slowly under the gentle glow of morning light.
His mommy sat beside the basket, never far from her precious boy. She hummed softly and stroked his back while he dozed, comforted by the steady rhythm of her breathing and the warmth of her touch.
But then, gently and quietly, she stood up.
She only meant to fetch a warm cloth and a bottle of milk — just for a moment.
But Dody felt it instantly.
The warmth disappeared. The soft fingers stopped. The familiar scent drifted just out of reach.
Suddenly, his little mouth opened wide, and he let out a heartbreaking wail.
“WAAAAAAHH!!”
It was a cry of confusion, fear, and longing all tangled into one tiny, shaking sound. His arms reached up with trembling fingers, and his tail wiggled helplessly in the blanket.
His mommy turned sharply, her heart dropping. “Oh, Dody!” she rushed back, kneeling beside the basket. “Mommy’s right here!”
But Dody didn’t calm down right away. He needed more than words.
She lifted him gently and cradled him to her chest. The moment he felt her heartbeat again, the cries slowed. His body relaxed, and his tiny head tucked under her chin.
His mommy rocked him back and forth, whispering sweet sounds.
“There, there… Mommy will never be far.”
Dody let out one last tiny whimper… then yawned. His eyes fluttered closed, safe once more in her loving arms.
And the house returned to peaceful quiet, wrapped in the soft bond between a newborn and his mama.
