Sweet little Ella sat in the corner of the living room, her tiny arms wrapped around her knees. The soft blanket beneath her did nothing to warm her heart—because what she needed wasn’t warmth, it was attention.
Everyone in the house seemed busy. Some monkeys were playing, others were napping, and Mom was washing dishes in the kitchen. But no one noticed that Ella hadn’t smiled all morning.
She whimpered softly at first, hoping someone would hear. Then came the gentle sobs, then louder cries—“Ee-eeh! Ee-eeh!”
She stood up and walked to the center of the room, eyes full of tears, searching each face.
Still, no one came.
So she sat back down, curling into a little ball, her small body shaking with sadness. Her cries grew louder—not out of anger, but from a heart that simply felt forgotten.
At last, a pair of footsteps approached.
Mom turned the corner and gasped softly. “Oh, Ella… my poor baby!”
She knelt down and scooped her up with gentle arms. Ella buried her face in Mom’s shoulder, her cries softening into hiccups.
“I’m so sorry, sweetheart,” Mom whispered, rocking her slowly. “You waited so long for someone to notice, didn’t you?”
Ella clung tighter, needing nothing more than this moment—to feel seen, safe, and loved.
Mom brought her a warm bottle of milk and kissed her forehead.
Soon, Ella’s eyes began to close, her breathing calm. No more crying. No more waiting.
She was finally held.
Because sometimes, even the smallest babies need the biggest love. 🐒💗
