Little Jasmine was not happy this morning.
She had just woken up, hoping to snuggle in Mama’s arms like always—but to her surprise, Mama was already hugging Koy, the other baby monkey in the family. Jasmine blinked in confusion. That’s my spot, she thought.
At first, she watched quietly, sitting a few feet away with her tail curled tightly around her. But the longer she stared, the more jealous she became.
Why was Mama grooming Koy so gently? Why was Koy getting all the cuddles and kisses? Jasmine’s tiny heart filled with frustration.
Then came the protest.
She stomped her little feet and let out a high-pitched screech. Her face crumpled with emotion as she marched toward Mama, making her feelings clear. But Mama, still busy with Koy, didn’t notice right away.
That made it worse.
Jasmine plopped down right next to them, arms crossed, eyes watery. Her lip quivered, and she looked up at Mama with a face full of heartbreak.
Finally, Mama turned. She immediately understood.
Without hesitation, she reached for Jasmine, pulling her in close with her other arm. Jasmine melted into the hug instantly, clinging to Mama’s chest like she’d never let go again.
Koy didn’t mind—she scooted over to share the space, and soon, all three were snuggled together, warm and safe.
Jasmine may have been jealous for a moment, but now her heart was full again. Because nothing beats being in Mama’s arms… even if you have to share. 🐒💞
