Little baby monkey Rojo had always been clingy—wherever Mom went, he followed, gripping tightly to her back or belly. He loved being close, feeling her heartbeat, her warmth, her comfort. But today, things didn’t go his way.
It started during morning playtime. Mom was moving quickly, leaping from one branch to another while trying to gather food. Rojo, as usual, clung tightly. But this time, she needed to move fast—and Rojo’s grip was getting in the way.
Without warning, Mom gave a quick shake, and little Rojo slipped from her body, tumbling gently to the soft dirt below. He wasn’t hurt physically—but emotionally? That was a different story.
He sat up with wide eyes, mouth open, and then—the loudest scream he’d ever made burst out.
“EEE-EEE-EEE!” His little arms flailed, his face scrunched, and big tears rolled down his cheeks. He was furious, betrayed, and confused. Why would Mom do that?!
He stomped his tiny feet on the ground and threw his hands in the air, making dramatic angry gestures. His tantrum drew the attention of everyone—monkeys and humans alike.
Mom turned to look but didn’t rush over. She calmly kept her distance, knowing her baby needed a moment to vent.
Rojo continued for a few more minutes, wailing and throwing leaves, until he finally tired himself out. He sat down, sniffled, and looked up.
That’s when Mom came back.
She walked over slowly, gave him a nudge, and let him climb back onto her chest. Rojo pouted for a bit longer, but soon melted into her fur.
Because even in angry moments, nothing compares to a mother’s embrace.
And Rojo? He might throw fits—but he’ll never stop loving his mama. 🐒❤️
