The soft afternoon breeze rustled the leaves, but tiny A Tong paid no attention to the peaceful sounds of nature. The newborn baby monkey sat trembling on a patch of warm earth, his fluffy body curled up in distress. His wide, teary eyes scanned the surroundings, desperate for the only comfort he knew—his mama.

But she was nowhere to be seen.

A Tong’s little lips quivered as he let out a piercing cry, the kind that echoed through the quiet space. His wails grew louder, filled with raw desperation, as if the entire world needed to hear his sorrow.

Thump. He flopped onto the ground in frustration, kicking his tiny legs. His cries turned into angry sobs, each one begging for attention. He didn’t understand why his mama wasn’t here to pick him up and cradle him close like she always did.

Nearby, some of the older monkeys glanced at him briefly but carried on with their day. They didn’t understand the pain of such a young soul longing for the only love that could soothe him.

The wind carried A Tong’s cries far and wide until finally, a familiar figure appeared in the distance. His mama, hearing his tantrum, hurried toward him.

The moment A Tong saw her, his sobs softened into hiccups. He stretched out his trembling arms, desperate to be held.

Without hesitation, his mama scooped him up, pulling him tightly against her warm chest.

A Tong buried his tiny face in her fur, his tears soaking into her coat. His breathing steadied as his world returned to safety and love.

All the sorrow melted away—because Mama was here now, and that was all that mattered
