It was an emotional day for little Cheekie. The tiny newborn baby monkey had recently been adopted and was still getting used to his new home, new sounds, and new caregivers. Everything was unfamiliar, so Daddy knew that every moment of care needed to be gentle and patient.
That morning, Daddy noticed that Cheekie needed attention around his healing umbilical cord area. Because Cheekie was so young, Daddy did not want to guess about his care. He followed the instructions provided by a qualified veterinarian or wildlife-care professional before using any antiseptic.
“Don’t worry, little Cheekie,” Daddy whispered. “Daddy is right here.”
Cheekie looked up with his tiny eyes.
Daddy carefully prepared a clean area and gently supported the newborn so he would remain warm and secure. He was especially careful not to pull, scratch, or disturb the cord stump.
When Daddy began the recommended cleaning, Cheekie immediately became uncomfortable.
“Eeee! Eeee!”
His little voice became louder.
Daddy paused.
“I know, sweetheart. You’re not sure about this.”
Cheekie moved his tiny hands and looked toward Daddy’s face. He seemed frightened by the unfamiliar sensation.
Daddy kept his voice calm and his movements slow. He followed the professional instructions carefully, using only the recommended product and amount rather than applying anything unnecessarily.
“There we go,” Daddy whispered. “Almost finished.”
Cheekie gave another tiny cry.
Daddy gently reassured him.
“You’re safe. Daddy won’t hurt you.”
Once the care was finished, Daddy made sure the area was left clean and undisturbed. He did not try to pull away the remaining cord stump, knowing that it should be allowed to heal and fall away naturally.
Cheekie was still making little unhappy sounds.
Daddy smiled sympathetically.
“You really have a lot to say today, little boy.”
He wrapped Cheekie comfortably in a soft, clean covering and kept him warm. The tiny newborn slowly settled against Daddy’s hand.
His crying became quieter.
“Eee…”
Daddy gently stroked his back.
“That’s better.”
Because Cheekie was a newborn, Daddy continued watching him carefully for anything unusual, including increasing redness, swelling, discharge, bleeding, unusual weakness, or changes in feeding or behavior. If any concerning signs appeared, he knew professional veterinary or wildlife-care attention would be needed promptly.
For now, Cheekie seemed comfortable.
His little fingers curled around Daddy’s finger, and his eyes slowly became sleepy.
Daddy whispered, “Your first days here may feel strange, but you’re going to have people looking after you.”
Cheekie closed his eyes.
The little cries disappeared.
Daddy stayed beside him while the newborn rested peacefully in his secure space.
The care had only taken a short time, but it was an important moment for Cheekie’s new beginning. Adoption wasn’t simply about bringing a tiny animal into a new home—it meant providing careful, appropriate care and getting professional help whenever something was uncertain.
Daddy smiled at the sleeping baby.
“Welcome home, Cheekie.”
The newborn made one tiny sleepy sound.
Then he peacefully drifted off, warm, comfortable, and surrounded by gentle care.
