It was the newborn baby monkey’s very first day in his new home.
He was tiny, fragile, and still frightened by all the unfamiliar sounds around him. Mom carefully prepared a warm, clean nest and gently settled him inside.
“You’re safe now, little one,” she whispered.
As Mom checked him carefully, she noticed that his umbilical cord stump still needed attention. Because he was so young, she knew this was something that needed to be handled very gently and according to professional veterinary or wildlife-care guidance.
Mom prepared the supplies and carefully followed the instructions she had been given.
The tiny newborn looked up at her with his big innocent eyes.
Then he made a small unhappy sound.
“Eee… eee…”
Mom gently reassured him.
“It’s okay, sweetheart. Mommy is right here.”
She carefully cleaned the area as instructed, using only the appropriate antiseptic recommended by his caregiver. She never pulled or disturbed the cord stump.
The newborn squirmed slightly and made another tiny cry.
Mom immediately paused to comfort him.
“I know, little baby. Just a moment.”
She gently stroked his head and kept him warm.
Dad watched from nearby.
“He’s so tiny.”
Mom nodded.
“That’s why we have to be extra careful.”
After the gentle care was finished, Mom checked that the area was clean and left it undisturbed so it could heal naturally.
The newborn slowly relaxed.
His tiny fingers reached toward Mom’s hand and curled around one finger.
Mom’s heart melted.
“Good boy. You were very brave.”
She carefully wrapped him in a fresh, soft blanket and held him against her chest.
The baby rested quietly against her, listening to her heartbeat.
Dad smiled.
“He already seems more comfortable.”
Mom gently kissed the newborn’s forehead.
“He’s had so many changes today. A new home, new people, and so many new things to learn.”
She continued watching him closely, knowing that any redness, swelling, discharge, bleeding, unusual weakness, or other concerning changes around the cord would require prompt advice from his veterinarian or qualified wildlife caregiver.
For now, the little monkey was peaceful.
After his care, Mom settled him safely back into his warm nest.
His eyes slowly closed.
“Sleep peacefully, little one,” Mom whispered. “Your new family will take good care of you.”
The newborn gave one tiny sleepy squeak before drifting off.
His first day after adoption had been filled with unfamiliar experiences, but it had also brought him something precious—a warm place to sleep, careful attention, and someone who was determined to protect him.
And as Mom watched him rest peacefully, she smiled.
“Welcome home, little baby.”
