Poor baby monkey Atong loved bath time, especially on warm sunny mornings beside the small river near the village. His caretaker gently placed him in a large floating tube so he could splash and play safely in the shallow water.
At first, Atong was having the time of his life. He kicked his tiny feet, reached for floating leaves, and chirped happily as the tube drifted slowly across the calm surface. His bright eyes sparkled with excitement.
But a sudden breeze pushed the tube farther from the riverbank than anyone expected.
The current grew stronger.
Before Atong realized what was happening, the tube spun around and drifted toward deeper water. The frightened baby monkey clung tightly to the slippery sides as the tube tilted dangerously. Water splashed over the edge, soaking his fur.
Atong cried loudly for help.
His tiny hands struggled to hold on as the tube rolled again. For a terrifying moment, he slipped halfway into the water and nearly disappeared beneath the surface.
Hearing his desperate cries, his caretaker rushed into the river without hesitation. Swimming as fast as possible, he reached the drifting tube just in time and pulled the frightened monkey safely into his arms.
Shivering and scared, Atong wrapped his little arms tightly around his rescuer’s neck.
Back on shore, wrapped in a warm towel, the baby monkey slowly calmed down. Soon, he was nibbling on a banana and looking much happier.
From that day on, Atong still enjoyed bath time—but only while staying close to the riverbank and under careful watch.
Sometimes, even small adventures need big precautions.
