The afternoon felt suddenly too quiet.
Daddy had just turned to leave, heading home first, and little Minea stood there frozen, trying to understand what was happening.
She watched him walk away.
Step by step.
Farther.
Farther.
And her tiny heart couldn’t handle it.
Her lips trembled.
Her eyes filled with tears.
In her arms, she held her small baby puppy tightly, hugging it close like it was the only thing keeping her together.
Then—
“AHHHH! Daddy!”
She screamed loudly, her voice breaking with sadness. Tears rushed down her cheeks as she clung to the puppy, pressing it against her chest.
She didn’t want Daddy to go.
Not yet.
Not first.
She wanted him to stay.
She wanted one more hug.
One more moment.
Her cries grew louder, sharp and emotional, echoing through the space. She stood there sobbing, her tiny body shaking, the little puppy confused but calm in her arms.
Even the puppy stayed still, like it understood this was a serious heartbreak.
“Daddy! Daddy!”
Minea cried again, reaching out with one hand while still holding her puppy tightly with the other.
Daddy turned back, his heart softening immediately at the sight.
“Oh, my little girl…” he said gently.
He walked back quickly and knelt down in front of her.
The moment he opened his arms, Minea rushed forward, puppy and all, falling into his hug while still crying.
He held both of them close.
“I’ll come back soon,” he whispered.
Her cries slowly softened into little sniffles as she stayed there, safe in that final hug.
Because sometimes goodbye feels too big for a little heart—
And all they can do is hold something close and cry until love comes back for one more embrace.
