Mason’s Loud Run to Mom

Comments Off on Mason’s Loud Run to Mom

The moment Mason heard footsteps near the gate, his head snapped up. His ears twitched, and his eyes widened with sudden excitement. Before anyone could stop him, the baby monkey let out a loud scream that echoed across the yard. He knew that sound. It was Mom coming home from the field. His tiny heart burst with joy.

Mason rushed forward, legs moving faster than his balance could manage. He screamed again, louder, sharper, full of happiness and relief. Dust lifted beneath his feet as he ran, arms flailing, tail swinging wildly behind him. He almost slipped but caught himself, refusing to slow down. Waiting even one more second felt impossible.

As Mom came into view, carrying tools and smelling of earth and grass, Mason’s scream changed into excited cries. He bounced in place, then ran again, straight toward her. His mouth opened wide, calling her in his own language, demanding attention, love, and reassurance all at once.

Mom dropped everything the moment she saw him. She laughed softly, kneeling down with open arms. Mason reached her at full speed and collided gently into her chest. His screaming stopped instantly, replaced by fast, happy breathing. He clung tightly, burying his face against her shirt as if afraid she might disappear again.

Mom held him close, rubbing his back, whispering calm words. Mason relaxed slowly, the tension melting from his small body. The long wait was over. She was home. Safe. With him. His eyes fluttered as he stayed in her arms, comforted and proud of his brave run. That loud scream wasn’t anger or fear—it was love rushing out faster than his legs could carry him. In that moment, nothing else mattered. Mom was home, and Mason was exactly where he belonged.
