Baby monkey Lika was usually sweet, curious, and full of playful charm — but today, she was in one of her stubborn moods. Mom was trying hard to finish her work, sitting at the table with papers scattered everywhere, concentrating as much as she could. She needed just a little quiet… just a little cooperation.
But Lika had other plans.
Instead of sitting properly beside Mom like she’d been taught, Lika kept sliding around, kicking her tiny legs, turning in circles, and refusing to sit still. She climbed onto the chair backward, dangled upside down, tapped the table with her fingers, and even reached for Mom’s pen, pulling it away with a mischievous little grin.
Mom gently asked her, “Lika, sit nicely, please.”
But Lika shook her head dramatically, puffing her cheeks in defiance.
The more Mom tried to work, the more Lika pushed for attention. She leaned against Mom’s arm, making the writing shake. She tugged at the papers, trying to pull them into her lap. When Mom set her back down again, Lika let out a loud, emotional whine as if she had been scolded for something terrible.
Finally, she plopped herself on the floor, crossing her tiny arms, giving Mom a very dramatic pout. Her tail twitched with irritation. She wanted love, attention, and cuddles — not patience, manners, or quiet time.
Her eyes glistened with frustration as she let out a small cry, not loud but full of emotion. She couldn’t understand why Mom wasn’t giving her all the attention she wanted. She didn’t know that Mom was working for her, trying to finish tasks so she could come back and hold Lika again.
Seeing her distress, Mom finally picked her up, holding her close. Lika melted instantly, her stubbornness fading as she pressed her face into Mom’s chest.
All she wanted was love — and Mom gave it, even on the busiest days.
