Maly Cries for the Girl Who Used to Protect Her

Maly had always been a sensitive little baby monkey — soft-voiced, tender-hearted, and deeply attached to the girl who cared for her every day. But this morning felt different. The girl had stepped away for a moment, just to finish some chores, and Maly misunderstood completely. Her tiny face scrunched, her breath hitched, and before anyone could calm her, Maly let out a heartbreaking cry that echoed across the yard.

She thought she had been left behind.

Her small hands trembled as she looked around, searching for the familiar warmth she always clung to. The world suddenly felt too big, too loud, and too empty without the girl’s gentle touch. Maly waddled to the corner where she usually played, but today she didn’t feel brave enough to explore. She curled into a tight ball, shoulders shaking, calling out again and again — a sharp, broken cry filled with fear and longing.

Every sound carried her message: “Come back… I need you… don’t leave me.”

When the girl finally returned, she froze, heart aching at the sight of Maly’s trembling body and tear-soaked little face. She rushed over, scooping the tiny monkey into her arms. Maly clung instantly — tiny fingers gripping as if afraid she would disappear again. Her cries softened but didn’t stop; instead, they melted into a tired, emotional whimper against the girl’s chest.

The girl whispered soft reassurances, stroking Maly’s head, letting her know she was safe, loved, and never forgotten. Slowly, Maly’s breathing steadied. The fear faded, replaced with the comfort she had been desperate for. She snuggled closer, eyelids heavy from all the crying.

By the afternoon, Maly had calmed, her trust returning little by little. But one thing was clear:
this tiny, emotional baby monkey needed more than food and shelter — she needed affection, security, and the gentle love of the girl who meant everything to her.

And she would never stop calling for her.
