Selena Hates Standing Practice

Comments Off on Selena Hates Standing Practice

Little baby Selena was having one of the most dramatic mornings of her young life. While most baby monkeys her age were learning simple things like climbing a low branch or holding fruit, Selena’s mom had decided it was time for the next big lesson—standing on two legs like a human.

But Selena did not agree.

Mom gently placed her on the ground, supporting her tiny body under the arms and lifting her upright. At first, Selena tried. Her legs wobbled, her toes curled into the floor, and she swayed left and right, eyes wide and unsteady. Mom smiled proudly, encouraging her to balance on her own.

But within seconds, Selena’s patience snapped.

She dropped her head back, opened her mouth wide, and let out the loudest dramatic scream she could manage. Her arms flailed, her little body twisted, and she began stomping her feet in protest—ironically still standing but full of fury.

Mom tried to calm her.
“Come on, baby, just a little longer,” she seemed to say with soft pats and encouragement.

Selena refused.
She sat down suddenly, folded her arms across her chest, and continued shouting with complete indignation.

In her tiny mind, this was unfair. Why stand on two legs when four legs worked just fine? Why was Mom making her practice instead of cuddling, feeding, or rocking her gently like before?

She looked up at Mom with tear-filled eyes, hoping sympathy would end this painful training session. But Mom stayed patient. She lifted Selena again slowly, helping her balance for just a few more seconds.

Finally, when Selena’s frustration reached its loud peak, Mom gave up with a laugh and scooped her into her arms.

Instantly, Selena stopped crying, snuggled into her mom’s chest, and sighed dramatically—as if to announce to the world:

“Training is over… finally!”
