It was a warm afternoon in the little bamboo house at the edge of the park. Inside, baby monkey Linda sat in her favorite spot — a woven basket lined with a soft towel. Normally, she loved resting there after playtime, but today, she was in full drama queen mode.
Mom had gone to the kitchen to prepare her snack — a small, ripe avocado that Linda adored more than anything else. But patience wasn’t exactly her strongest skill. As the minutes passed, her excitement turned into frustration. She peeked toward the door, expecting to see Mom return at any second, but no one came.
Linda puffed up her cheeks, crossing her tiny arms. Her little lips quivered, and before long, she let out a loud, pitiful cry that echoed through the room. “Eee–ee–ee!” Her body shook with every sob, her tail curling tightly around her legs.
She leaned back against the basket’s edge, eyes squeezed shut dramatically, as if the whole world had forgotten her. Tiny tears rolled down her cheeks, and she sniffled between cries. To her, waiting felt endless. Her tummy growled softly, reminding her just how hungry she was.
When Mom finally appeared, holding the bright green avocado, Linda didn’t even notice at first — she was too lost in her little performance. “Linda, what’s wrong, my silly girl?” Mom said gently. The moment Linda heard her voice, her eyes flew open.
There it was — the avocado she’d been dreaming of! Instantly, the tears stopped. Her cries turned into excited squeaks, and her tiny hands reached out eagerly. Mom laughed, sitting beside the basket and slicing a piece.
Linda took a small bite, her eyes fluttering with satisfaction. The soft, creamy fruit melted in her mouth, and she let out a happy coo. Her earlier sadness vanished as quickly as it had come.
Mom brushed the last tear from her cheek and smiled. “You’re such a little actress,” she teased softly.
Linda giggled, still munching, tail swaying happily behind her. Soon, her belly was full, her tantrum forgotten — and she curled up in the basket again, eyes half-closed in peace.
A little mischief, a little love, and a very full tummy — that was baby Linda’s world.
