Little Ozil, the newborn baby monkey, sat curled up in a soft towel, his eyes watery and his lips trembling. His tiny belly rumbled — he hadn’t eaten in hours. A faint, heartbreaking cry escaped his mouth as he looked around, searching for the warm comfort of his mother. But she wasn’t there.
Rescuers had found Ozil abandoned, weak and frightened. Since that moment, they had been doing everything they could to help him recover. Still, every time he got hungry, his little heart ached with sadness. The memory of being close to his mom still lingered, and milk from a bottle didn’t feel quite the same.
When the caretaker came with the warm milk bottle, Ozil’s crying grew louder, his voice tiny but full of emotion. He reached out both hands, shaking slightly, desperate for the comfort he knew was coming.
“Here, sweetheart,” the caretaker whispered, gently holding him. The moment the bottle touched his lips, Ozil latched on, drinking fast, eyes closing in relief. The milk dribbled from the corners of his mouth, but he didn’t stop — he was too hungry, too thankful.
After a few minutes, his cries faded into soft breaths. His little chest rose and fell peacefully as his belly finally filled. He looked up at the caretaker, blinking slowly, then rested his head on her palm.
The pain, the hunger, the sadness — all eased by love and a full tummy. The rescuer smiled, wiping the leftover milk from his tiny chin.
“Good boy, Ozil,” she whispered. “You’re safe now.”
In that quiet moment, the once-hungry baby monkey drifted off to sleep, finally feeling the warmth and care he had long been searching for.
