Baby monkey Yuri had always been full of energy, but that day her emotions came crashing down in the loudest way. Mom had been sitting quietly, just closing her eyes for a short moment to rest after a long morning. To Yuri, however, it felt like abandonment.
The instant she saw mom’s eyes shut, Yuri’s tiny heart filled with fear and anger. She jumped up, waving her little arms and letting out an ear-piercing scream. Her body shook, her face scrunched with temper, and tears rolled down her cheeks. She couldn’t understand why mom would stop looking at her—why mom wouldn’t give her the attention she needed right then.
Mom opened her eyes quickly, startled by the sudden outburst. Seeing Yuri’s tiny body trembling in frustration made her heart ache. She reached forward to scoop her baby up, but Yuri squirmed away, still screaming loudly as if to punish her for daring to rest.
“Yuri, my baby, I’m here,” mom whispered, her voice breaking with emotion. She held her gently despite the cries, rocking her back and stroking her soft fur. Slowly, the warmth of mom’s arms began to soothe Yuri. Her cries turned into little hiccups, and her body relaxed against mom’s chest.
Mom kissed her forehead, whispering softly, “I’ll never leave you, not even with my eyes closed.” At last, Yuri clung tightly, burying her face into the comfort she had feared losing.
It was a hard reminder for mom—her little one’s world still depended entirely on feeling secure every second. And for Yuri, it was proof that no matter how upset she became, mom’s love would always bring her back to peace.
