It was just another sunny afternoon, and Mom decided it was time for baby monkey Ponpopn to get cleaned up. His fur was dusty from a morning of tumbling and rolling, and bath time was long overdue. But Ponpopn had other ideas.
The moment Mom filled the tub with warm water and gently picked him up, Ponpopn’s face changed. His tiny hands clung to her tightly, eyes wide, mouth already preparing for the loudest protest.
“Noooo, Mom! Not again!”—if only he could talk, that’s what his scream would’ve said.
The instant his little feet touched the water, Ponpopn let out an ear-piercing cry. His tiny body squirmed and twisted, trying everything to escape the soapy tub. His tail flicked water everywhere, soaking Mom in the process. But she was patient—she knew this routine all too well.
“Just a quick bath, sweetheart,” she cooed, holding him steady with love.
Ponpopn’s crying only grew louder. His face scrunched, and big tears welled up in his eyes. He wasn’t hurt—just dramatically furious. A true drama baby. Anyone walking by would’ve thought the world was ending.
Mom tried to distract him with a soft toy and a song, but it didn’t help much. Ponpopn hated bath time with his whole heart.
Finally, after a quick scrub and rinse, she wrapped him up in a soft towel, holding him close to her chest. The cries slowly faded into sniffles, and then into silence.
Warm and safe again, Ponpopn peeked up at Mom as if saying, “Why would you do that to me?”
She kissed his forehead and smiled, “Because I love you.”
And deep down, even though he’d never admit it… Ponpopn felt just a little better being clean and cuddled in her arms.
