Little Daniela was only just starting to explore the world around her. Her steps were still wobbly, her eyes wide with curiosity—and caution. She stayed close to her mom most days, always under gentle watch.
But today, something unexpected happened.
Out of nowhere, the big monkey DEDE, known in the troop for his rough behavior, came too close. Daniela froze. His shadow covered her small frame, and before she could step away, DEDE reached out and grabbed her tail.
Daniela let out a terrified squeal.
With one quick tug, DEDE began dragging her across the dirt, her tiny legs scrambling and her hands clawing at the ground. She screamed, a sharp, high-pitched cry filled with fear. Her soft belly scraped against the dry leaves as she tried to pull away.
“Maaa!” she cried out in pure panic.
Her mom turned instantly and rushed toward them, leaping with force. One loud warning bark from Mom made DEDE back off at last. He grunted and stalked away, leaving Daniela trembling in her mother’s arms.
Mom pulled Daniela close, checking her tiny hands and fur for injuries. Daniela clung tightly to her chest, still whimpering, heart pounding like a drum.
She buried her face into Mom’s fur, hiding from the world. Safe now—but deeply shaken.
The troop gathered around, quietly watching. Even the wind seemed to hush as Mom comforted her tiny girl.
Later that day, Daniela wouldn’t leave Mom’s arms. Every rustle made her flinch. But she was okay—no wounds, just a heart that had been deeply scared.
She’d remember DEDE for a long time.
But with Mom by her side, Daniela would learn to feel brave again.
